Dear Band that isn't John Coltrane or Saturday Night Live:

Are you sure you want a saxophone in your band? Yes, we know--it sounds good. Your saxophonist is so talented. But are you sure you want a saxophone in your band? Will yours be the music that transcends ingrained associations? From now on, when we hear a sax, will it be you that we think of, and not every bad 1980s love scene?
